Mr. Maunu Jacob Ashaka was born 60 years ago to the Ashaka Family of Topo, Badagry. He attended L.A. Primary School, Topo, Badagry between 1966 and 1971, and Government Teachers College Badagry where he qualified as a Grade II Teacher in 1979. He was appointed as a Classroom Teacher by the Lagos State Ministry of Education in 1979 and posted to L.A. Primary School Akarakumo, Badagry.
In 1981, he proceeded on study-leave to the then Lagos State College of Education where he bagged an NCE in 1984. He was re-absorbed into the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission and deployed to Agboju Secondary School. He later proceeded to the Lagos State University, Ojo and obtained a B.Sc. Ed. Degree in 1998, and thereafter, a Master’s Degree (M.Ed) in Education Management and Administration in 2001.
As a result of diligence and dedication to duty, Mr. Ashaka became a Principal in February, 2007 and was posted to Model Junior College Kankon and thereafter to Lagos State Senior Model College, Kankon. During his tenure, the school improved tremendously and won series of awards. Mr. Ashaka also personally won several awards some of which include: Best Principal in Lagos State, Junior Secondary School category (2009/2010); Best Administrator, Junior Schools Category (2010); Fed. Min. of Education Teachers’ and Schools Excellence Award (2010); Lagos State Government Best Officer Award, Senior Category (2011); Lagos EKO Project Governor’s Performance Award (2012). Mr. J. M. Ashaka retired meritoriously from the Lagos State Service as Principal, Lagos State Model College Kankon, Badagry in 2014.
