Responsibilities: Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM)

ISSUANCE OF GUIDELINES/ CIRCULARS TO THE EDUCATION DISTRICTS ON PENSION
⦁ MINISTRATION FOR ALL TEACHING AND NON-TEACHING STAFF.
⦁ CUSTODIAN OF ALL PERSONNEL RECORDS IN THE POST PRIMARY TEACHING SERVICE.
⦁ TRAINING AND MANPOWER DEVELOPMENT FOR ALL OFFICERS ON GL 13 AND ABOVE IN COLLABORATION WITH EDUCATION DISTRICT, AND DATA BANK OF ALL TRAINING PROGRAMME IN THE TEACHING SERVICE.
⦁ IN COLLABORATION WITH EDUCATION DISTRICT, APPOINTMENT, PROMOTION AND DISCIPLINE OF ALL STAFF.
⦁ ASSESSMENT OF QUALIFICATION AND PLACEMENT OF TEACHING AND NON-TEACHING STAFF IN ACCORDANCE WITH GUIDELINES, AN EXTANT RULES AND REGULATIONS AND ISSUANCE OF REGISTRATION NUMBERS.
⦁ PREPARATION OF ANNUAL ESTIMATE AND ESTABLISHMENT PROPOSAL FOR TEPO.
⦁ STAFF WELFARE FOR ALL TEACHING AND NON-TEACHING STAFF.
(TEACHERS’ LOAN BOARD).
⦁ IN COLLABORATION WITH TEACHERS’ REGISTRATION COUNCIL IN THE REGISTRATION OF QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS.
⦁ PREPARATION OF CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE FOR TEACHING AND NON-TEACHING STAFF IN COLLABORATION WITH THE DISTRICTS.
⦁ INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS WITH TRADE UNION IN THE POST PRIMARY TEACHING SERVICE. E.G. NUT, ANCOPSS IN COLLABORATION WITH MINISTRY OF ESTABLISHMENTS, TRAINING AND PENSIONS.

⦁ Provide sustainable efficient and effective capacity development for excellent performance in the post-Primary Teaching Service of Lagos State.
⦁ Ensure adequate welfare provisions to enhance performance and career fulfillment in Lagos State Post-Primary Teaching Service.
⦁ Maximize the use of all resources in TEPO.

OBJECTIVES:

⦁ Facilitate promotion for eligible staff and seamless career progression of teaching and non-teaching staff in line with extant Lagos State Establishment guidelines.
⦁ Support the recruitment of qualified and suitable personnel into Lagos State PP-Teaching Service.
⦁ Meet training needs of Lagos State Post-Primary Teaching Service Staff for quality performance and students’ outcomes.
⦁ Build and sustain a well – motivated Post-Primary Teaching service.
⦁ To strengthen TEPO’s financial management system.
⦁ To revitalize human resources management systems to promote productivity.
⦁ To strengthen procurement processes in line with state legislation / guideline.
⦁ Foster an interactive between training needs and impact of training programmes.
